If Brit says: “BOG OFF! I’m on the phone!” he/she is one from the 35% of Brits who admit they use their phone while on the loo-, or is on funerals or even having sex...

According to the SOURCEWIRE, Naomi Campbell used hers to assault her assistant, Rebecca Loos used hers to send Becks saucy text messages and Paris Hilton famously used hers while enjoying a steamy love making session.

But there we have a new survey of the UK population who revealed some equally intriguing facts about Brits and their mobiles. This exclusive survey that was conducted by igizmomag.co.uk aimed to discover the gadget habits of British people. The results show that Brits often exhibit possessive, rude or downright peculiar behaviour when it comes to using their mobile phones and favourite gadgets.

An estimated 730,000 of the UK’s population chatted on their mobile while in the throes of passion with a lover. However, the other strange and inappropriate places a nation is using phones, is whilst attending a funeral.

Ross Burridge, Editor of igizmomag.co.uk, commented “We’re a nation that loves our gadgets and it seems we take our mobiles everywhere with us - even to the lavatory. It’s amazing to think that some people will even chat and text while in the throes of passion or at funerals. Our survey also revealed some even stranger places that people admitted using their mobiles, such as while having a filling - and even during a rectal examination.”

Not only that but…

We as a nation are obsessed by gadgets and gizmos and even prioritise our favourite toys as more desirable and important than alcohol and smoking. In fact, nearly 9% of the younger members surveyed even cited their mobile phone as more important than their family, health and friends. The survey studied the gadget usage habits of nearly 10,000 male and female consumers aged 16 – 45.

Accoeding tothe SOURCEWIRE findings are as follows:

Strangest place to use your phone:

• Over a third have chatted to friends on a mobile whilst on the toilet at work, at home or in a public lavatory
• 2% of mobile users have chatted whilst at a funeral
• 1.2% have held a mobile conversation whilst having sex
• 20% of people have been told they use their mobile too much by friends, family or colleagues
• Some other responses included: ‘whilst having a filling at the dentist’, ‘whilst having a rectal examination’, ‘at Princess Diana’s funeral’ and ‘in Brixton on a Friday night.’

Priorities:

• A mobile phone and an MP3 player are ranked higher on the list of priorities than beer, wine, spirits and smoking
• Under 24s value socialising and their mobile second only to their family
• Women value their mobile second only to their family and health.
• Nearly 9% of under 16s view their mobile phone as more important than their family, their health.
• Consumers are more concerned about the loss of an MP3 Player or mobile phone than losing a handbag or briefcase

Nullriver, Inc. has released NetShare onto the iTunes App Store. The $9.99 application promises to allow you to share your iPhone's network connection with your computer. Share your iPhone's EDGE or 3G Internet connection with your computer using NetShare. NetShare provides a SOCKS5 proxy for your computer to connect to.

NetShare's inclusion in the App Store is a curiosity, as Apple must have manually approved its inclusion. It's unclear if the Application would go against AT&T user agreements. AT&T typically charges Smart Phone users $30/month extra to use tethering applications. Screenshots of the application's instructions have been included here:

This application has been confirmed to work by multiple users. NetShare is available on the iTunes App Store. Update: The application appears to have gone missing from the App Store. While the application listing still appears, if you try to purchase it now, iTunes says "The item you tried to buy is no longer available".

Update 2: For those who were fortunate enough to get the app, forum user Mac-Addict has posted a detailed tutorial.

Update 3: Developer reply: It is not clear yet why Apple took down the application yet, we've received no communication from Apple thus far. NetShare did not violate any of the Developer or AppStore agreements.

The 3G iPhone is gone on the market yesterday July 11, Friday. On same date that Apple Inc. launched its online software store called App Store. The App Store sells hundreds or even thousand of applications such as games, language translators, corporate applications, and more that would work for the iPhone. Apple Inc. hoped that by opening the App Store the same date that the 3G iPhone will be on sale, it can boost the sales of the device.

The latest App Store is the only place where iPhone as well as iPod Touch users can purchase the applications that can be used on their devices. For those who already own an iPhone, the App Store appeared in their device as an icon which is part of the free update. As for the iPod Touch users, they have to pay $9.99 if they want to upgrade their software. There are more than twenty countries that started selling the 3G iPhone on July 11. This helps Apple Inc. to gather hordes of buyers all over the world and to sell at least 10 million units before the year 2008 ends. The highly-anticipated second-generation iPhone can access the World Wide Web two times faster than the first-generation iPhone. Moreover, it also supports third-party software including games. Some third-party software can be purchased at the App Store while others are offered by the third-party software developers for free.

According to analysts, Apple has a greater chance of selling at least one million 3G iPhone units during its first week. This is mainly because Apple Inc. has reached more countries now whereas the first-generation iPhones were only distributed in 6 countries last year.

In spite of cutting down the crime in United States going out at night is still dangerous. Women are more unprotected than men. According to the Senate Judiciary Committee, three out of four women in the United States will be victims of one violent crime during their lifetime, so there was created a No-Contact Jacket, which associates protection with comfort.

The development of the No-Contact Jacket is to intervene into the social condition of violence against women. This project enters a new realm of communication by expanding the borders between technology, visual arts, culture, product and the mass market.

The No-Contact Jacket is a wearable defensive jacket which was made for women to protect themselves. If the wearer feels threatened, she can activate a switch in her palm that blasts 80,000 volts of low amperage electric current pulse just below the surface shell of the entire jacket. That’s enough to knock anybody back a few paces.

If an assailant were to grab hold of the wearer the high voltage exterior would interrupt their neurological impulses which control voluntary muscle movement.
The neuromuscular system would be overwhelmed causing disorientation and loss of balance to occur and of course pain. The pain experienced is non-lethal, but is enough to effectively and immediately deter contact with the wearer and provide a critical life saving opportunity for escape.

The No-Contact Jacket also challenges existing power landscapes between men and women and alters ideas of the human space and boundaries. Protecting and empowering the female body from unauthorized contact will allow for her to inhabit her environment in a more confident way and thus redefine and renegotiate her physical space and identity. The No-Contact Jacket will begin to shift ideas of perceived female vulnerabilities.

I think every woman should have the jacket like this; it’s a good protection from robbery and a pretty clothe too.

Are you looking for a new car, which does not cost much and is very comfortable and nice?

You may like Tata nano, it’s the People’s Car, the cheapest car in the world, with a starting price of 2,500$ or the equivalent of a DVD player in a Lexus.

Citing moments in history including the first manned flight by the Wright Brothers and man’s landing on the moon, Ratan Tata, the chairman of the company, revealed a cute, compact car designed to appeal to first-time car buyers in one of the world’s fastest growing car markets.

It was designed and made in India. The car is the culmination of about five years of research and input from designers across the world. A team of 500 people worked on creating the Tata Nano.

It is a little over 10ft long. There can seat four passengers comfortably. It has reached speeds of 65 miles per hour. The aluminium car contains a rear-loaded 33 horse power, two cylinder petrol engine and weighs about half a tone. It is 3.1m long, 1.5m wide and 1.6m high and has four doors, a four-gear manual transmission, seatbelts, locking and a steering wheel. A small boot allows enough room for a duffle bag.

Ratan Tata said: “I hope this is a car that changes the way people travel in rural and semi rural India. We are a country of a billion people and most are denied connectivity, this is a car that is affordable and provides all-weather transport for the family.”

The car will be sold first in India, with an initial production run of 250,000 a year, but is expected to be made available in other emerging markets in Latin America, south-east Asia and Africa within four years. It will launch commercially in the second half of the year.

The Nano is about half the price of the cheapest car available.

We know that iPhone is a fascinating gadget with its innovative and various functions. But its new gardening opportunity is really amazing. Now people have a chance to use the iPhone to water their plants. As someone created a robotic system that when controlled by your iPhone’s Safari web browser waters your plants!

Sure you would be astonished, but here is how it works: It is possible by checking Mobile Safari Position. Whenever Mobile Safari changes position from horizontal to vertical, a web server notices the changes and via a JavaScript, and some electrical engineering, changes the position of the can and moves it up and down.

P.S Who knows what would be another surprise from iPhone?

HermitWorks Entertainment, founded by former BioWare game designers Cameron and Marcia Tofer, is working not only for Quack 3 for the iPhone and iPod touch ports, but on Space Trader

port for iPhone as well.

As widely reported this week, the port uses the built-in motion sensors to control action in the game, and offers the capability for two player play using WiFi.

HermitWorks hopes to release Space Trader in June for the iTunes Store for users to purchase and download but in order for that to happen they would need minimal support in Apple’s official SDK which was late in coming.

Space Trader is a FPS style game but the company is also working on a RPG game called Quest. They promise that it won’t be standard 2D RPG, but instead a full 3D game, with some NPC’s being real players.

HermitWorks Entertainment Corporation is an independent game company founded in 2004 by industry veterans Cameron and Marcia Tofer. HermitWorks is an innovative company interested in developing games that casual and hard core gamers can play together. Their first game title 'Space Trader' was realeased in the fall of 2007.

Digital Lifestyle Outfitters has announced the release of two new cases - the HybridShell and the VideoShell for the iPhone. They’re available for $24.99 and $19.99 respectively from the DLO store.

The HybridShell is a fusion of crystal-clear polycarbonate plus gripable silicone, combined to provide a strong layer of protection for the iPhone. The new shield also has black rubber dots above the surface that makes it easy to grip. In the front it has DLO Surface Shield, which adds transparent protective layer, which allows you to use all the touch screen functions, and still have your device protected.

The VideoShell integrates a kickstand which allows you to comfortably place iPhone on flat surface and enjoy a movie, or any other video content. It provides you with access to the headphone port, hold switch, side controls and dock connector. It also includes a Surface Shield.

DLO Surface Shields are also available separately for $14.99. The pack contains five anti-glare films for protection against dust and smudges. Because they work with static adhesion, Surface Shields are easy to apply, re-adjust if necessary, and remove without leaving behind any sticky residue.

Researchers for the computer giant are working on a technology known as racetrack memory which uses tiny magnetic boundaries to store data. The team at IBM's Almaden lab in California outline ways to make the building blocks of the novel storage medium.

The capacity of MP3 players could increase 100 times from present levels. But the IBM team say racetrack memory is still seven to eight years away from commercial use.

The work being done on racetrack memory by Dr Parkin and colleagues could produce a storage medium that is cheap, durable and fast. Currently Most desktop computers use flash memory and hard drives.

"It's now possible to build a racetrack memory though we've not built one yet," - said Dr Stuart Parkin, an IBM fellow at the Almaden laboratory.

The racetrack memory stores data in the boundaries, known as domain walls, between magnetic regions in nanowires. The medium gets its name because the data races around the wire or track as it is read or written.

The domain walls are read by exploiting the weak magnetic fields generated by the spin of electrons. The tiny amounts of power needed to exploit these fields means racetrack memory generates far less heat than existing devices.

The team has also shown how to fabricate the slim wires that would form the racetracks on which data is stored. If the expected data densities of the technology are realised it could mean gadgets that have about 100 times more memory on board than is possible today. It would mean that a portable MP3 player could hold up to 500,000 songs.

Racetrack memory could replace both flash and hard drives in computers and other gadgets.

TeenBuzz, a website that offers ultrasonic high frequency ringtones has recently been reformatted to include added support for iPhone users.

The ringtones are of a particularly high frequency, which helps younger generations avoid detection of mobile phone usage. While younger teenagers can hear the tones, adults will have a hard time in doing so as a result of naturally occurring hearing loss (a phenomenon known as presbycusis).

Those who want to use this ringtone first have to subscribe to a PodCast website. As soon as the download to the ultrasonic is finished ringtones will be given, and they will be automatically added to the ringtones directory. Note that they will be made available upon successful syncing of the iPhone.

Teen Buzz (also known as Mosquitotone or Zumbitone) is a popular ringtone that was hijacked from a technology that was originally used to repel loitering teenagers from shops in the United Kingdom. Inventor Howard Stapleton developed the "Mosquito device" for Compound Security Systems.

The Mosquito is a product made to drive away teenagers from no-loitering zones. Because the ability to hear high frequencies deteriorates with age (a phenomenon known as presbycusis), the Mosquito works by emitting high-frequency tones at approximately 17.4 kHz.

The Mosquito was originally tested at one location in Newport, South Wales, where it was successful in reducing the number of teenagers loitering near a grocery store. In spite of this, some adults and seniors were still able to hear the Mosquito. It has not been tested by hearing experts, however the tones are broadcast at 75 decibels, so they fall within the government's auditory-safety limits. The Mosquito was released into the mainstream market in 2006.

P.S. For more information visit the official website of TeenBuzz.

Technology research firm Gartner tried to clear up reports that it had said Apple might be buying 10 million iPhones capable of connecting to much faster data networks.

Gartner said that they do not know whether Apple has actually placed an order for 3G iPhones and there is no way for them to get a confirmation that an order had been placed. However, they do believe it would be logical if Apple would have done so.

“If Apple was to place an order, then 10 million would be a reasonable number. And we absolutely believe that in the next-generation iPhone 3G will be there,” - Bob Hafner, Dulaney's boss.

The iPhone currently uses an EDGE radio, a digital mobile phone technology for increased data transmission rates over a cellular network. EDGE, however, is considered a 2.75-generation technology, versus a 3G technology, such as HSDPA, which is used in Europe.

Since iPhone sales were not as strong as expected in Europe (Apple has predicted it will sell 10 million of the current iPhone by the end of the year), due in part to a lack of 3G support, it is vital for Apple to release 3G iPhones as soon as possible. However, 3G might not be enough, since there are already 3.5G devices, reports Gartner.

Gartner announced that one improvement they expect from Apple is OLED display for the iPhone. Current LCD is the most energy consuming part of the device, and having OLED screen would allow for power balance for 3G.

Gartner, Inc. (NYSE: IT) is the world’s leading information technology research and advisory company. It delivers the technology-related insight necessary for our clients to make the right decisions, every day. From CIOs and senior IT leaders in corporations and government agencies, to business leaders in high-tech and telecom enterprises and professional services firms, to technology investors, Gartner, Inc. is the indispensable partner to 60,000 clients in 10,000 distinct organizations.

Through the resources of Gartner Research, Gartner Executive Programs, Gartner Consulting and Gartner Events, the firm works with every client to research, analyze and interpret the business of IT within the context of their individual role.

An innovative, international technology company that develops and manufactures cutting-edge, reliable, high-quality PC products and value-added professional services, Linovo presents new IdeaPad notebooks to those who are no more interested in ordinary products and search for something special.

According to LENOVO’s official web site, it emphasizes main features of the new product-IdeaPad notebooks; notebooks come with 17’’ and 15’’ widescreen displays. The main features that make IdeaPad different from the other ones are:

VeriFace™ facial recognition security
Dolby® Home Theater™ sound
Frameless screen
Multimedia Control Center with touch-sensitive buttons
GameZone keys with secondary display

Lenovo promises comfort while opening the notebook and represents three varieties of the product. Choice of product type mostly depends on the demands of the clients and the consumers. IdeaPad is of three styles. These are: IdeaPad Y510, Mobile versatility that identifies 4 mains specific features. IdeaPad Y510 has an integrated 1.3 megapixel camera and Lenovo's VeriFace™ face recognition software. This is the unique feature that can make face your password and help control access to the notebook by the time the owner of the notebook sits at it. Despite the fact that the IdeaPad Y510 makes the user feel special the Dolby® Home Theater™ premium audio system attracts attention of the segment that is fond of theater-style sound. The product creates excellent entertainment environment with the help of Multimedia Control Center.
The other style is IdeaPad Y710, Performance entertainment. This style is focused on the segment who is interested in advanced processing and graphics options for multimedia and gaming. Among the exceptional features of IdeaPad Y710 are 17’’ displays with frameless screen, VeriFace face recognition security, like the IdeaPad Y510 has, Dolby® Home Theater™ audio, and the different feature from the IdeaPad Y510 is that it has Secondary hard drive (optional).

The third alternative of the IdeaPad that is coming soon is IdeaPad U110 Ultraportable style. And what are the specifics of this style? Well, as the official site of LENOVO claims the IdeaPad U110 is extremely thin and light for on-the-go people and who can not live without the one and who like to carry the best. Again as the previous two style Ideapads IdeaPad U110 has display with frameless screen but it is 11.1’’, the same VeriFace face recognition security, and Dolby® Home Theater™ audio, though Solid state hard drive (optional).
The IdeaPad is directly available at the Lenovo official web site. One should only choose or wait for the third one that will come soon.

Corporate Telecommunications presents the service that gives the users opportunity to diagnose their headsets: who is using which headset, which ones need repairing, which are out of warranty, which ones need new voice tubes or need upgrading. These are achieved by unique identity codes and specially-designed software that monitor the lifecycle of each headset.

Access to information does not require separate software. It is automatically stored on a secure web-based database. All changes are updated directly onto the system.

Chan Bansal, business development manager at Corporate Telecommunications said: "Trying to keep track of headsets using an Excel spreadsheet or databases might work in the short term, but manually inputting information on scores of headsets is a time consuming task. And if the administrator is on holiday, sick or leaves the company, it doesn't take long for the spreadsheet to become out of date. Not to mention the security risks of losing potentially sensitive information."

A comprehensive audit trail for each headset, with multiple reporting options is provided by Accucheck software. A history of each change in use or status is created for both headsets and agents.

Bansal announces that "Developments in business culture, such as health and safety laws, regulatory changes and tight cost controls, mean sketchy asset records are not acceptable. Not managing your assets effectively, wastes time, costs money and risks falling foul of regulations."
