Nokia launches “vernacular news portal”- ‘mobile newspaper’ in India

In the era of connectivity Nokia takes the leading position. Among Nokia Products are: Mobile phones, Multimedia computers, Mobile gaming devices, Enterprise Architecture, Networks, Wireless systems, Wireless data devices, Wireless voice devices, Wireless switching equipment, and now it launches a mobile newspaper in the palm. It will give users opportunity to view news updates in the native language.

Manorama Online’s chief operating officer, Miss Mariam Mammen Mathew says: "Currently Internet penetration is very low, especially in smaller cities & rural areas. Services such as the 'Mobile Newspaper' will ride on the larger penetration of mobile phones, and bring the Internet Revolution to the masses."

Nokia announces that is has partnered with different media houses and islaunching not only “vernacular news portal” but value added services in ten languages. The only thing the users need to do is to download vernacular news portal icon on their phones, send ‘MM’ as SMS to 5555.

Users of Nokia GPRS will be able to get news in different categories, such as: sports, travel, music, movies.

(Nokia 2626, 6233, 6300, 6131, N72, N80, and N95 are able to download the vernacular news portal icon).
