How Many Years Do Blogs Celebrate?

To be straight Blog celebrates 10 years from the day it was first launched. According to Wikipedia the term "weblog" was coined by Jorn Barger on 17 December 1997. As for the "blog," it was coined by Peter Merholz, who jokingly broke the word weblog into the phrase we blog in the sidebar of his blog Peterme.com in April or May of 1999.

There are several types of blogs.
According to Wikipedia Media type blogs are:
vlog, linklog, sketchblog, photoblog, tumblelogs, Phlog, moblog
According to the genres:
political blogs, travel blogs, fashion blogs, project blogs, niche blogs, dreamlogs, Splog, Slog

Technorati, estimates that there are 120,000 new blogs being created every day. Posts are being added to blogs at a rate of 17 per second - a total of 1.5 million per day, says the firm.

The importance of Blog increases day by day. Blogs carry different purposes. Some blogs are of personal character, others are a kind of tools that organize the communities of the same interests that many people have and share among them.

In 2004 Gov. Howard Dean was the first presidential candidate who made very effective political use of a blog. The campaign was the unique one as the result of all the efforts done by the blog was the raise over 50 million dollars and Howard Dean became the Democratic front runner until the primary elections.

According to the results of Technorati, it tracks more than 112 million blogs. While in 1998 there were about 23. So how many times greater is the number of blogs today in comparison with the result of 1998? It is about 486956,...well, sorry but I am lazy to write other numbers. One can see that the superiority level is huge. :-)
