100,000 Hours User Activity

Orthus, a leading provider of innovative and independent information security services and solutions, publishes the results from monitoring over 100,000 hours of user activity. This activity is captured through the delivery of the unique Data Leakage Audit Service.

The results are based on the survey of 12 months research. Findings show that there is no an organization that does not suffer from multiple instances of data leakage. Some organizations damage because of information leakage that does not work to advantage to business.

The analysis of 100,000 hours of user activity underlines exactly who, where, when and how critical information assets are removed from the infrastructure and demonstrated that the real problem – and the solution – is all about the user.

Key results from the survey are:
Corporate data leakage was most likely to occur through mobile devices with 68% of all events identified linked to mobile rather than fixed desktop systems.
Information Technology and Customer Services Departments had the highest incidence of data leakage.
Most incidents of data leakage occur during the extended working day (7-7 Monday to Friday).
The applications most favored by users to remove sensitive data were identified as web mail, instant messaging (IM) and social networking web sites.
The top 4 data leakage vectors were identified as mobile devices, web mail, removable media and corporate email.
All data leakage incidents identified could have been prevented. Existing corporate security policies were not implemented, monitored or enforced.

The software itself records suspicious actions and identifies whether information is sent or copied to an unauthorized device or whether it is uploaded or transferred through an unauthorized application.

Managing Director of Orthus, Richard Hollis said: “Companies continue to try and protect information by protecting the architecture deploying devices to protect devices. They neglect the protection of data”.

“Until organizations accept that the majority of losses are associated with authorized users and implement the necessary controls where they are effective – between the user and the information itself – these losses will continue”.

What makes Italian weddings so intriguing is that the customs and traditions vary from region to region as well as from town to town. This makes writing about Italian wedding traditions and customs a difficult task.

In Italy there are some really lovely wedding traditions and including some of them in your wedding day is a great way to make your wedding a little more unique and special.

Some of the traditions mentioned above are slightly ancient and may not be followed much today as they were once and of course they are changed from time to time.

Italian Wedding Traditions:

The bride and groom will usually have separate evening meals with their respective family and friends. They don't see each other the night before the wedding. In the morning of the wedding day the groom will either deliver the bridal bouquet to the bride’s house or wait outside the ceremony venue and present the bride her bouquet upon her arrival. The bridal bouquet is usually a gift from the groom’s family and its colour is meant to be a surprise to the bride.

Wedding guests will wait outside the ceremony venue for the bride to arrive and then follow the bride and groom inside for the ceremony to commence.

On the wedding day the bride must wear something blue, something old, something borrowed and something new. These items are supposed to bring the bride good luck and she should honour this custom.

As a rule, purple is avoided.

In southern Italy nobody gets married in May because it brings bad luck (there is the same tradition in Russia).

The groom on his side has to follow some important rules, for example, not to wear short socks or tuxedo. The groom fulfils the tradition of wearing black or dark grey thin socks, cuff links, boutonniere and a tailcoat including a silk top hat and gloves.

In some regions it is customary for the bride and groom to walk to their wedding ceremony together.

Often when the bride leaves her home, someone will have tied a white ribbon over her front door or gate which she must cut. A white ribbon may also be tied in front of the ceremony venue to symbolise the bond between the bride and groom.

After the wedding ceremony all guests are given small bags of rice which are thrown over the bride and groom as confetti.

At each side of the church's main door it is preferable to put two little olive trees as a symbol of good luck.

It is considered bad luck to wear any gold on the day of the wedding until the wedding rings are exchanged.

At the wedding reception each guest is given a Bomboniere. This Italian wedding tradition is the original version of favours and the Bombonieri are 5 sugared almonds wrapped in lace. The almonds symbolise health, wealth, fertility, happiness & long life.

Before the wedding meal begins the best man will serve the guests sweet liquor so they can toast to the happiness of the couple. Usually songs that talk about the story of the spouses are played. In many areas dances of the local traditions are performed (folk dancing). For example in Southern Italy it is still popular to dance to the "Tarantella". The Tarantella is a lively, flirty Southern Italian group dance that involves linking arms, moving in a circle and whirling and twirling about on the dance floor. In Calabria, towards the end of the reception, the guests sing "Lauretta mia", which is a local song that talks about the parents and of what they have done for their children....

If you are getting married and want to include some Italian wedding traditions into your wedding day its a lovely idea, but be sure to also tell your guests the meaning of each of the Italian wedding traditions you have incorporated as they will be curious about why you have done certain things.
There is no place without an individual and specific beauty that should not be shared with the surrounding world. Thousands of people travel around the world. And tourism became one of the successful businesses nowadays.

The United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) defines tourism as follows: "travel to and stay in places outside their usual environment for not more than one consecutive year for leisure, business and other purposes not related to the exercise of an activity remunerated from within the place visited."

In the early centuries, when there was no possibility to decide what place to visit just because nobody new except those who already had been there, and those were few, today everything is much easily manageable. On the basis of developing technology, we can preliminarily decide to go somewhere or to stay at home, where to go, whom with, and how. No more traveling for getting to the place for months, just book a ticket of bus, train, plane or ship and have a fun, receive knowledge, experience and take the best of all the nations.

And one of the best ways to make people interested in having vocations or holidays in this or that country is to build a web site and provide maximum information to visit the country.

Not all but majority of small countries are less popular though there are many places that should be visited by thousands of tourists.

Each country makes websites but rarely the sites are popular in World Wide Web. But at http://www.mygreatworld.com/ you can upload your captures and give a helping hand and insider-guide to future visitors - and maybe even an eye-opener to residents living nearby... This is a kind of information barter. MyGreatWorld provides opportunity to descriptions of the places but pictures are preferable. Though there is no limit, one can upload descriptions, pictures or both. Professional photographers are invited too to participate in the contribution and serve community together with the country which the pictures are of or countries they are representing.

As soon as the pictures are uploaded online evaluations and comments are available to be made.

There is an Upload-Information provided by MyGreatWorld.
To upload a picture to MyGreat you HAVE to know WHERE this picture was taken. To be more precisely: You have to know the name of the spot. There are three kinds of spots: Cities, Landscapes and Places of Interest. Each photo must be assigned to either one of them.
City stands for itself. It means any kind of city, town, hamlet or even abandoned village AND all places of interest within! (for example would the Big Ben be found in London and the Statue of Liberty in New York)
A Place of Interest is a regional spot that might be interesting to visitors. The place of interest has to be OUTSIDE of a city. For example Stonhenge IS a place of interest, the Sydney Opera in contrast to that is NONE, as it rather would be affiliated with the city Sydney.
Landscape is supposed to comprise all those connected natural areas that are known for themselves. For example the Scottish Highlands are a landscape in that sense, just like the Rocky Mountains or the Everglades are. Just as well, mountains, massive rocks or (rather small) islands are landscapes. If your picture was taken in a city or a place of interest within a landscape, it is rather adjoined to the city/place of interest.
General Information:
It is only relevant WHERE you took the picture NOT what you see on the picture to decide whether it is a city, landscape or place of interest!
The rush of high developing social environments, business atmosphere and wish to be one of the mighty and wealthy make people try to get more money for tight deadline. Some work for two and more places, some do business and others maintain easy money. The last one to find out seems to be difficult because easy money could not fall direct from the heavens. Research is also required.

Now and then when you’re surfing around on the web you see these so called Get Rich Systems, you never give them any attention or click at them because you’re sure it’s just a waste of time and probably a scam. Creatures like that exist in the network area for several years or may be since the online markets appeared. Some cheat, some sell and others simply educate in exchange of particular sum.

The sums hesitate between the lowest 1999 US $ to highest 500 US $. Those sums are aimed to different ways of the usage. Buyers transfer money into the pockets of inventors, huge amount is paid to get the clue and share secret-services.

What are those secret-services that provide consumers well being? What are those clues that make you depend, crazy and involved in the internet market business? Answers are fluent; there could appear several reasons why to begin that deep trip into the strange money cut net. The first mostly spread view is that the proposal itself is very charming; it calls you for action, to participate and share the net business. The second is: “everyone wants to be rich.”

However, nice explanations and amazement sides of the proposals does not matter, those unite high quality advertisement, those consolidate PR and marketing departments work; all these are normal for the organization under the high development.

What if it could appear like a dream – “Is it really me one of the mighty and wealthy? I can not believe that...”

We wake up and dreams are stopped, we almost never find out, was it the real dream or just our illusion?!

But how could we find out if we never tried before…

“If you were given the opportunity to make hundreds of dollars online everyday, wouldn’t you take it?”
"The average economically active individual in the developed world is on about 700 databases," said Niamh Gallagher, a researcher at think tank Demos who has spent six months researching the spread of personal data.

We almost never have thought how many people know our identities. For example, just USVISIT border system is cheking identities of the UK tourists in 30 separate databases.

However sharing data is not as negative as it might seem from the first sight. According to Gallager: "It's much harder to live your life without sharing information than it is by sharing". Anyone that tries to stop their personal data leaking away often find they are denied benefits enjoyed by those that are happier to share.''

For example, if you want to keep your name away from the credit checking databases you can pay for everything in cash. However this will create for you problems while taking loans for mortgage.

There are a lot of people who are allowed to check your personal information and control whether you are using it correctly. Only in UK there are 287 000 data controllers. Actually these people are just overseeing those actually work to maintain and expand the data-holding bases. Even more then that: the existence of the word wide web makes it possible to transferr your data worldwide and makes it available for those who will be ready to take a bit of trouble for getting it.

Indeed the hi-tech firm Garlik, helping people to control their personal information at least to some extent, says there are about 1000 sites on web where a persons details can be found. This is mainly because the fact that giving your personal information to one organization or firm, makes it available to many others as well.

"There is no awareness of what happens to that data when you give it away," said Ms Gallagher, "It is not so much the organisations with which you willingly share data," she said, "it is where it goes after that." The times are gone when the firms were interested just in your contact information, now they are willing to know what type is your credit card, how often do you go shopping, what sort of goods you like and so on. So that to build their marketing strategies on this information.

The interests are growing around the issue of personal data. According to Dr Kirstie Ball a senior lecturer at the Open Univerisity: "That personal data held by every organisation you interact with runs the parameters of your existence, your consumption, your entitlements. "We're all interested in the collection and application of personal data and its consequences for individual rights and social science concepts such as trust and discrimination," said Dr Ball.

"It merits study and understanding because its consequences can be tangible. For instance, she said, an employee ticking the wrong box when they enter your data into a database could mean a person ends up labelled as a former criminal or credit liability.

Although it is possible to ask the data companies and organizations reveal your data, very small number of people actually do so, as it is connected with a considerable amount of problems, including the task to make sure all of this information is accurate.

If you want to write a book about tradition go to Georgia. There are different traditions in various parts of Georgia.

Many foreigners write and speak about wine drinking traditions in Georgia. Georgians drink a lot of wine, but not every day; only if there are guests over or something is being celebrated.

In the past centuries Georgians did not drink so much wine at the feast. They drank only one bowl/cup of wine during the meal. If there was a guest or was something being celebrated there were drunk max 3 bowls/cups of wine. During the feast Georgians would sing songs and say toasts. Women were not allowed at the table. There was a table in another room specially led for women. Women also drank a little wine, sang and dance. Both men and women had their own Tamada (A tamada is a toastmaster at a Georgian Supra or feast).

Nowadays women are allowed to seat at the table with men. They are not expected to drink much but among men drinking is a test of their strength and manfulness. It is like competition between the members of the feast. But you lose your "competition" if you get drunk, are unable to walk properly or end the feast in the bathroom hugging the toilet seat.

A few tips if you get at the Georgian feast:

  • Don't refuse a glass of wine. It is very rude and insults the host. Especially if the party is held in honour of you.You can toast along, hold speeches and drink symbolic little sips from your glass.
  • If you really can't or do not want to drink, make an excuse like: you have stomach problems, you are driving the car,you have problems with you liver or heart or you are taking the medicine which forbids the drinking.
  • If you are hang over say it to your host, but be careful for the local remedy for this problem is getting more alcohol. Drink the same alcohol with which you drank the previous day. Do not drink more than two glasses. If you do not like the meat or the soup you are at the risk that they start preparing Hashi, a soup made of cow feet and cow stomach with salt and garlic. If you can't drink even one glass of alcohol and do not like the Hashi ask the host to bring Borjomi for you. It is Georgian mineral water. It is the ultimate hang over cure...
  • You should know several essential toasts. In Georgia the tradition of toasting is very important. You can only toast with wine and vodka, NEVER with soft drinks! Georgians only toast with beer if they wish somebody bad luck. (Often Georgian men toast their mother-in-laws with beer). So, don't toast your guest family with beer.
  • Never sit at the short end of the table. It is always reserved for the Tamada (of course if you are not the Tamada yourself).
  • If you drank the toast of dead Friends or relatives do not omit the next toast. It is important to drink the next toast, because it is said that if you stop drinking after a toast in honor of the dead you will die soon. So Georgians try to say the next toast as soon as possible.

Thousands of dollars are paid to get desired images; changing technology has meant you can now pick up these images very cheaply. Companies, websites, newspapers choose common method - they save time, money and simply subscribe for Micro stock photography.

Micro Stock Photography is an offshoot of traditional stock photography-that consists of existing photographs that can be licensed for specific uses. What defines a company as a micro stock photography company is that they source their images almost exclusively via the Internet, do so from a wider range of photographers than the traditional stock agencies and sell their images at a very low rate (anywhere from $.20 - $10) for a royalty-free image.

Tools to help support the micro stock photographer have also started to emerge, including the Micro Stock Monitor tool which is a plug-in for Firefox browsers and reports on your sales and viewing statistics from a range of different micro stock websites. Each micro stock company keeps a different pricing and payment scheme. Photographers can upload the same pictures on multiple sites or, become an exclusive supplier and receive an increased commission.

There is no fee to post photos on a micro stock site. However, micro stock companies do not accept everyone or all photographs. Each employs a team of reviewers who check every picture submitted for technical quality, as well as artistic and commercial merit. Photographers add keywords that help potential buyers filter and find pictures of interest.

If you enjoy photography as a hobby or a career, you may try yourself as the members of the Micro stock photography. Over time a passionate person, be it beginner or professional, can build quite a large portfolio of wonderful images. Some photographers take advantage of various outlets to make some good money from their images, but most never do.

Technology developments give us high quality digital cameras at a price that almost everyone can afford. Using the internet as a means to deliver content, a market for high quality stock images at an incredibly low price has all but exploded. Technology is closing the gap between beginner "point and shoot" photographers and "pro" photographers. There is a lot thing to consider and learn, but it does not seem to be very difficult start making career type of income with almost not experience with a camera.

The pioneer of micro stock photography was Bruce Livingstone, who created iStockPhoto, originally a free stock photo site that quickly became an industry phenomenon. Livingstone sold iStockphoto to Getty Images in February 2006 for $50 million USD.

CIOL, with the slogan “Making IT Your Advantage” announces that on 2 March 2008 FiveFabMums.com will be launched to help mothers and give advice on parenting issues. The study about it was commissioned by Tixylix.

According to the research provided by the part of Novartis Group, mothers feel more comfortable consulting online. The reason is less possibility to be judged by different people. Study results show that only two percent of mothers felt judged by online peers and the quarter by neighbors and other people who might be in relation to the family or surrounding.

Dr Jenny Leonard, Parenting expert said: “The findings reflect a growing trend for modern mums to seek advice and support from a wider range or sources than ever before. The internet in particular allows mums to feel connected to the outside world and to seek answers to parenting questions quickly and also without feeling embarrassed or judged.”

The study and experience will be based on five real modern day mums and kids through photos, videos and other suitable materials. The network will include interactive process between parents that aims to share life experiences, ask, and answer questions...

The results differ between modern mothers and 1970s.
“For example, social support groups such as coffee mornings are on the increase, with 54% of mums today attending regular meetings compared to only 34% of mums in the 1970s. Many modern day mums also say that online parenting portals can provide crucial support and 20% regularly log on to online parenting portals when they need advice in a hurry.”

It is available to take part in this initiative and one of the ways to do so is to apply online at http://www.tixylix.co.uk/. The choice of the responsible people whom to chose to be involved in this project is made only by the 31st December 2007, successful applicants will be notified. The final five mums will be selected by a panel of judges, including leading parenting coach Dr Jenny Leonard, at a special audition weekend on 5th & 6th January 2008.
T-Mobile remains the exclusive provider of Apple iPhones. Following a legal decision, the Bonn-based mobile operator is currently required with immediate effect to offer the iPhone without an obligatory T-Mobile contract as well. The legal conditions are attributable to an injunction submitted by competitor Vodafone D2, who was behind T-Mobile in the race to sell the Apple iPhone in Germany. T-Mobile will meet this requirement until the legal aspects have been clarified.

T-Mobile will start selling the phone for 999 euros ($1,477) immediately as well as continuing to offer it for the discounted 399 euros ($590) in combination with a two-year contract, the company said in a press release.

The legal conditions also require that all devices sold from November 19, 2007 be unlocked free of charge at the customer's request. This is attributable to the fact that the injunction submitted by Vodafone D2 was received on November 19. While unlocking the SIM allows calls to be made in other networks using the iPhone, numerous functions remain exclusively available to T-Mobile customers with a Complete rate plan.

The biggest advantages for T-Mobile customers continue to be the EDGE network, which will offer almost 100 % coverage in the entire T-Mobile network by the end of the year, and access to over 8,000 HotSpots for rapid data traffic via WLAN, covered by the Complete contract. As before, the Apple iPhone is available to purchase for EUR 399 in connection with a Complete M, L or XL contract.

By the same token, the innovative visual voicemail box only functions in the German T-Mobile network. This allows the customer to call up voice messages as well as select and directly access those to be listened to, without having to listen to the previous messages. Just like e-mails, visual voicemail allows the customer to access messages according to personal preferences.

This service is not only the more attractive option in technical terms. Costs are also remarkably low: With the Complete rate plans, exclusively developed for the iPhone, customers save up to 40 percent or EUR 54 per month compared with the individual rate components required for comparative use of another mobile device at T-Mobile. Each Complete rate plan includes a flat rate for free-of-charge data traffic via EDGE or WLAN using the iPhone, and free visual voicemail access within Germany. The smallest rate plan, Complete M, includes 100 minutes and 40 free SMS messages per month.

T-Mobile International is one of the world’s leading companies in mobile communications. As one of Deutsche Telekom’s three strategic business units, T-Mobile concentrates on the most dynamic markets in Europe and the United States. By the end of 2006, more than 106 million customers are served in the twelve T-Mobile markets. T-Mobile is a partner of FreeMove, an alliance formed by four of Europe’s leading mobile companies - Orange, TIM (Telecom Italia Mobile), TeliaSonera, and T-Mobile - to help their customers communicate as easily while travelling abroad as they do at home.
"Mirror, mirror upon the wall, who is the fairest fair of all?" Then the mirror answered- "O Lady Queen, though fair ye be, Snow-White is fairer far to see. Over the hills and far away, she dwells with seven dwarfs to-day."

All of us know the fairy tail about the evil Queen and the magic mirror which could see everything existent far and wide of this endless universe. However sometimes reality doesn’t leave a place for fantasy, as together with the other miracles of technology: seeing far and wide of our planet also doesn’t represent a problem today.

This became possible with the new internet system GoSee4Me which enables you to see things in a far distance; the only requirement for you is to know the exact location of this thing, person, place or anything else. After logging in the GoSee4Me you are able to request an image of anything, defining the requirements, such as the view from a definite angle, a close-up of some detail, any time of the day/night etc.

Your request will be sent to those members of GoSee4Me who live or work near the location you defined. After being notified of your request, they will respond you and offer you their help for a definite sum of money. Note that the prices these members will ask may differ, so you can pick up the person who will require from you less. You can also choose the “photographer” by his/her history of photo rating.

Take into consideration that the photographers are anonymous. So it is a good opportunity for extra income for anybody who can skip out of the office for several minutes and take a photo with his/her mobile.

You will get the image requested through the GoSee4Me web site. Payments for the received photos are charged on the credit cards, plus the web site fee for processing your data.
According to the owners of the site, GoSee4Me was created to eliminate inconveniences and expenses of traveling for those who need to check information and get images of definite locations. These images can be required for business of private reasons, such as getting information about customer’s needs, products of the competitors, operation of their own branches in far-away locations, planning for travel, or just images of something from a past of an individual- for nostalgic reasons.

GoSee4Me is already receiving a considerable income for the service it offers. Although the site is relatively new, it is believed to have all chances for an even better future.
WolfKing, a world leader in the innovation and creation of gaming input devices, announced a new product - WARRIOR XXTREME, the world’s first hybrid 2-in-1 PC gamepad and keyboard. The XXTREME incorporates all the features that made the original WARRIOR a must-have device for laptop gamers and LAN center patrons, while adding a second keypad for commands in massively multiplayer games or chatting with clan mates. This, coupled with the stone-cold fact that caps-lock is cruise control to cool, makes you wonder just how hardcore this keypad really is.

The XXTREME combines the original circular 54-key disc of the WARRIOR with 40 additional keys in a modified “QWERTY” arrangement on a second attached disc. This creates an easily portable mini-keyboard, eliminating the keys unneeded for gaming. A new “Blue Moon” backlight has been added to the keys – perfect for playing in low-light conditions. Two USB 2.0 ports are incorporated into the XXTREME, allowing gamers to hook up other devices such as gaming mice and headphones.

“The WARRIOR XXTREME is the next generation of PC gamepads,” said Bob Costlow, director of sales, WOLFKING. “It combines everything that made the original WARRIOR an award-winning gaming accessory, and adds a new level of functionality that will give gamers the edge they need to frag the competition.”

Like the original WARRIOR, the WARRIOR XXTREME uses standard USB keyboard drivers and requires no additional software for either Mac or Windows OS. Other features retained from the original WARRIOR include built-in volume controls and the 3-layer silicon membrane for extremely quiet use with a lifespan of over 10 million keystrokes.

At the price point Wolfking is providing ($80), it's perplexing why consumers would purchase this keypad over other cheaper and infinitely more useful products. The Warrior XXTREME is available immediately at www.dell.com/gaming

WOLFKING is a gaming enthusiast focused technology company positioned at the leading edge of gaming interfaces and accessories. Featuring broad-based PC & Mac hardware/software compatibility and a diverse selection of options in color/shape customization, WOLFKING products utilize advanced engineering and unique ergonomic designs that deliver the ultimate gameplay experience.

As it is commonly known, rechargeable batteries are environment-friendly as they save the costly materials which are used for their production. As the rechargeable batteries can be charged 1000 times, each such battery saves resources which would be spent on 1000 single-use batteries, thus spending less natural resources and saving environment form contamination.

However the rechargeable NiMH batteries are not quite popular, because of the impression that they last less than their single-use counterparts. This question was recently explored by the author of http://www.newstarget.com/ Mike Adams. After sharing views with several people, he asked himself a question, whether battery companies produced less-quality rechargeable batteries to encourage the sale of more profitable throw-away alkaline ones.

To move forward in his research, Mr. Adams bought some rechargeable Energizer “D” batteries. (We remind you that Energizer Holdings is an American manufacturer of batteries with a market share of approximately 25%).

To leave no place for skepticism, Adams chose the biggest electronics retailer of the USA, “Best Buy” as his shopping place. His choice was approved by the fact that the rechargeable Energizer of size “D” had the same power capacities as the single-use, much smaller “AA” batteries (2500 mAh).

Mr. Adams was astonished, why energizer of size “D” were so weak. So he decided to put the purchased batteries apart and see what there was inside. What he found out was striking: inside the “D” size battery there was a much smaller “AA” battery, surrounded by a cheap plastic shell to look bigger.

However, the “AA” battery shelled in plastic and filled with air is cost more than $12, while the Energizer real-“AA” battery with exactly the same capacities costs only $3.

The reason why Energizer producers do so, according to Adams, is the fact that “Energizer can get away with it, probably. Most consumers have no idea about the mAh numbers. They just look at the physical size of the battery and figure it has more capacity.”

So Energizer can get 400% more price for their “AA” batteries, by packing them differently. At the same time, by decreasing public credibility in rechargeable batteries, the company makes people to buy more throwaway alkaline ones. Of course it’s not in their interests to sell just 1 rechargeable battery instead of 1000 single-usage ones. According to Adams: “the Energizer company is engaged in deceptive marketing practices and that it is intentionally doing so in order to protect its disposable alkaline battery business.”

The only way out, in the author’s words is for the consumers to “read the labels on electronics just like they should read labels on food and nutritional supplements.”

Indeed, the labels can often reveal the real qualities of the goods we are buying, despite the sizes, shapes, colours and advertisements placed on the goods itself, as well as on the packages, on the shop windows, on the bill-boards, and other ports used for advertising.

Why the color Green is so much emphasized in the news world of internet and not only. Mostly our searches for information depend what are our interests and what is our background of knowledge but the actuality of the problems concerning the issues of global warming, energy efficiency are vivid and undoubtedly, the topics do not leave the first three or five news stories on different web sites. Each sphere covers the issue in individual manner and with different approaches.

Though, the purpose is the same for everybody, to make the world healthier than it is today. In past centuries while creating computers of the size of a room, hardly anybody could think what might be the possible consequences of not only computers but technology in general and other human harmful activities.

And today the leading companies which have the focus in this direction work on this issue intensively. One of them is D-Link. It strives for excellence as an award winning designer, developer, and manufacturer of networking, broadband, digital electronics, voice and data communications solutions for the digital home, Small to Medium Business (SMB), and Workgroup to Enterprise environments.

One of the last products the company created is Green Ethernet technology and its new environmental-friendly series of SOHO Gigabit switches that decreases energy costs through the reduction of power consumption without sacrificing any operational performance or functionality.

Karien Wood, Marketing Manager for D-Link South Africa, admits: “D-Link's Green Ethernet technology conserves energy by recognizing when a port is active or inactive to adjust its power accordingly, thus offering benefits to Home and SOHO users who may not need perpetual use of their computers or all the ports on their switches. It is also capable of altering the power usage relative to the length of its cable, and conserving the use of energy for both the user and the environment without suffering any loss of performance."

As D-Link emphasizes the main features of the new product are as follows:

D-Link's Green Ethernet technology
D-link's Green Ethernet technology can detect a link's status and cable length, and adjust power usage accordingly. By reducing power consumption, less heat is produced, resulting in extended product life and lower operating costs.

Power conservation when links are idle
Even when a computer is shut down, switches often remain on and continue to consume considerable amount of power. Using D-link's Green Ethernet technology, the new switches can detect when a computer is turned off, and then respond accordingly by changing into power standby mode, thus reducing power usage for that port.

Optimized power usage on dynamic detection of cable length
Switches normally send full power to cables regardless of the actual length. Using D-link's Green Ethernet technology, the switches can analyze the cable's length and adjust the power accordingly. Since the cable length used by Home/SOHO users is mostly less than 20m, power consumption can be significantly reduced.

On the basis of researches and market demand evaluation D-Link is going to improve the technology that will be to advantage to the environment that needs human care.

The efforts of D-Link are not enough for the world that is under very serous threats but it is one step forward.
Magic happens not every day but MagicTaxi.com promises to make it on every click of our mouse.

How? The web’s happiest search engine “Magic Taxi” explains how it happens: Every time you use your mouse to search the web or shop online using MagicTaxi, we will give 50% of the gross revenue we receive from advertising or commission referrals to The Woodland Trust” that will plant trees.

The main instructions that are given by MagicTaxi are as follows:
Click Reduce my CO2,
Decide to make the site your home page,
Select “Yes”

This procedure leads you to the process of helping The Woodland Trust to plant more trees.

Saving your planet does not cost you any extra money. MagicTaxi is responsible for sharing the percentage of online spendings with The Woodland Trust.

As a spokesman for MagicTaxi.com says: “The next 6 weeks are the busiest for online searching and shopping. According to the Centre for Economic and Business Research the average British family will spend over £448 on food, drink, toys and other gifts this Christmas. If this was spent through MagicTaxi it would plant 5 trees and help to offset 1 tonne of carbon.”“We chose to partner with the Woodland Trust as we wanted the trees purchased to be grown within the UK, so that we could be confident they would reach full maturity and our users could visit the woodland being created.”

The spokes person recommends: “So don’t delay, upgrade your mouse today and make it the second, third or 5,000th carbon reduction mouse in the UK. www.magictaxi.com/reducemyco2.”

And that is how Clare Allen, Head of Corporate Partnerships for the Woodland Trust, evaluates this initiative: "MagicTaxi has added an innovative yet practical dimension to the way individuals can help the environment. By continuing to search and shop online, but using MagicTaxi, people can help reduce their carbon footprint and help build sustainable woodland throughout the UK. The UK is the least wooded country in Europe, planting trees with the Woodland Trust won’t just absorb carbon, and it will help to create more habitats for our rare and endangered wildlife"

The main reason of this initiative is resulted by the environmental changes that threats the earth very serious problems. We have no healthy planet any more. The threats are caused by human activities. There are several factors the earth suffers from.

According to World Meteorological Organization (WMO): “The natural environment suffers, for example, from lack of precipitation for extended periods and uncontrolled land use, leading to desertification. It is estimated that one-third of the Earth’s surface and one-fifth of the world’s population are threatened by desertification. WMO therefore directs its attention to the aspects of climate variability and change which impact the environment.”

Everybody should agree that the level of threat is high but one of the ways to improve the environment is very simple. One click is one more step forward to save the world we live in.
The judge of a small Chinese city Tianjin has recently overseen a first case of divorce by a text message. The married pair who decided to give up family life were in their 40’s and already in their second marriage.

The thing which has attracted the attention towards this case was that both of the spouses were deaf and mute. Wang Hong and Zhang Hai married four years ago; however the wife demanded divorce 3 months ago on the grounds of incompatibility. Mr. Hai went sharply against the divorce, trying to explain in the sign language to the audience, how difficult it is for a couple with disabilities to build firm ties and an ever-lasting family.

The thing which is remarkable about this case is the decision of the judge to use text messages for overcoming communication pitfalls: “The case was not complex but it was hard to judge because they were both deaf-mute, in the end we found using mobile phone text messages was an effective way of communicating.”

As long as Zhang lived a long way from the court, and in any case there was no point for him to be present during the sessions because of his disabilities, the judge authorized using mobile text messages as an official medium of informing the husband about the legal proceedings.

After lengthy sms negotiations, Zhang accepted his wife’s will to divorce. The final sms written to Zhang from his wife was the- soz i dnt luv u anymr :( -which left nothing to the husband but giving in.

This unusual sms-court took at least 200 text messages and created an interesting precedent for the lawyers and experts all over the world. Whether this manner of legal proceedings has a promising future, we can only wonder.
Rupert Murdoch, the global media empire magnate, is going to abolish subscription fees at The Wall Street Journal’s Web site. And why? As the headline of the article already shows, to make 10-15 millions instead of one and get more revenues from advertisement from all over the world.

Rupert Murdoch announced this plan in The Australian. According to the amount of subscriptions, The Wall Street Journal counts 1 million subscribers. How much profitable is it to make the Web site free, and lose 1 million subscribers? As Rupert Murdoch announced in different news agencies: “We are studying it and we expect to make it free.”

In a highly competitive media market it is the result of hard work to obtain million subscribers. There are thousands of online newspapers and media products that need an income from their subscribers. The income of The Wall Street Journal is about $50 million a year, though according to a Dow Jones it is nearly $70 million.

As Rupert Murdoch says, the majority of The Journal sites will be free. But the final decision is not made yet.

What are the bases of increased interest in online advertisement? What makes media owners rely on advertisement incomes rather than getting more and more subscribers?

UK Internet Advertising Statistics 2007 report is a kind of supporting evidence to this fact. The result shows the follows:

Summary of UK Online advertising research
These are the headlines from the IAB Research which showed a 41% surge in online media investment.
  • £2.016 billion spent on online advertising in UK, 2006
  • 11.4% online share of all advertising revenues (up from 7.8% in 2005)
  • Online advertising greater than national newspapers (10.9% share)
  • Internet spend just over half the size of the TV advertising market, which experienced a fall of 4.7% to £3.9 billion.
  • UK nearly double average global share - the Global average is currently 5.8% according to ZenithOptimedia

Online advertising formats
Formats or tactics used showed a continued dominance of paid for search

  • £1.2 billion (57.8 % share) on Paid for search
  • £453.7 million on display advertising (including banners, skyscrapers and online sponsorships)
  • £379 million (18.8% share)

According to UK Internet Advertising Statistics 2007 results say that:” direct mail and at current rates of increase will overtake TV advertising by 2010!”

When Ms Brown began working in Google as a part-time masseuse, the company was just a small Silicon Valley start-up with 40 employees. Together with the $450 a week she got a pile of Google stock options, which she never thought would be worth a penny.

However after five years of work Ms Brown retired a wealthy woman, with the millions of dollars on her bank account, and the stock options which are still rising in value. 52 years old former Google employee now lives in an enormous house in Nevada and hires her own masseuse and a private Pilates instructor. Ms. Brown set up a charity foundation and traveled all around the world. More then that she wrote a book, still unpublished, about her lucky job: “Giigle: How I Got Lucky Massaging Google.”

Ms. Brown is not the only employee-millionaire from Google. Although no one has officially counted the exact number, there are approximately 1000 people who own more then $5 million worth Google stock.

The fact is, the Google present and former employees hold stock options cost about $2,1 billion all. The current employees, in addition, have the so-called unvested options, the options which can not be immediately cashed. The value of these unvested options hits $4 billion.

The considerable portion of Google stock options, however, belong to the chief staff. For example, one of the Google founders, Larry Page owns $20 billion stock, while another, Sergey Brin holds $19,6 billion. Three Google senior vice presidents together hold $160 million worth of options.

However unlike Ms. Brown the new employees nowadays are not granted with thousands of Google options in their exercise price, or the determined price which would have the employees to pay for purchasing the stock, set in pennies. The half of the Google’s 16000 employees have been working for less than one year, and their options have a $500 exercise price. However they can already see the rise of price on their options. The number of stock options granted to the new employee of the company are usually determined by the latter’s new position and his/her salary level.

The rise in Google’s stock is affecting the deepest reaches of the company. “It’s very clear that people are taking nicer vacations,” said one Google engineer, who asked not to be identified because it is also not Googley to talk about personal fortunes made at the company. “And one of the guys who works for me but has been there longer showed up at work in a really, really nice new car.”

Although the tale of Google Cinderella- Ms. Brown is not likely to be repeated in future, the general well-fare of its employees will steadily rise, together with the values of the Google stock options they hold, and the years they will spend working for the company.
Who does not have cell phones and computers today in contrast to the previous centuries? Hardly one can find such a person. But who does have such health as the predecessors had? What influences the surrounding world and what are the results of these changes?

There is no an event or thing in nature that has only advantages or disadvantages, pros and cons. The most actual issue nowadays is technology, especially computer, the thing we can do nothing without, the thing we sit the whole day at, and spend much more time than it is recommended.

What are the main disadvantages?

Dr. Mao reveals the secrets of longevity. And among very important issues, he identifies the threats the computer can cause in people’s lives.

The very first thing Dr. Mao emphasizes is the access of the computer situation to identify the level of the risk.

To start from the very beginning the choice should be made on LCD-Liquid Crystal Display. In the case of having a monitor the risk of being under electromagnetic radiation is high. The low voltage indicator of the flat screens does not produce the electromagnetic radiation and LCD monitors are less power consumers at the same time. Though few disadvantages of the flat panel computer monitors have been discovered while searching for advantages.
These are: Durability, Color, Viewing Angles, Price, Pixels. For more detailed information please visit: AC. People’s Media Company.

The next advice Dr. Mao gives is to place a plant near the computer and why?
Xylene, a toxic gas that is emitted from your computer screen, is not your friend. Offset volatile organic compounds (VOCs) like this one with a plant, your best air purifier. Plants produce oxygen and eliminate VOCs at the same time. Good ones include chrysanthemums, English ivy, ficuses, indoor palms, and peace lilies.”

Not only radiation has its negative effects on the health of the computer users but also physical location of computers, the way we sit at it and even the location of mouse we keep in right (or left) hand. That became the reason of increasing the number of the people who have arm ache and other discomforts that become much more serious problems in long term “perspectives.”

Technology in general has not only negative influence on human health. But technological equipments, the medical organizations, hospitals are equipped with save the lives of thousands of people. http://www.hhs.gov/ lists the following advantages:
  • “Improve health care quality;
  • Prevent medical errors;
  • Reduce health care costs;
  • Increase administrative efficiencies;
  • Decrease paperwork; and
  • Expand access to affordable care.”

The most interesting correlation between the problem and problem resolution is that both are managed by technology. Technology “ruins” our health, technology reveals the causes and shows the results, chain makes a kind of circle where there is no man not using the technology and there is no technology created by anybody else but the man.
When the human DNA was first decoded in 2000, it was used to prove the remarkable similarity of people. It was stressed, that the genomes of any two human are more than 99 % identical.

However today the science went further to identify the remaining less-than 1%, to explain such differences as a lighter skin of Europeans, feature of Asians to sweat less, and the resistance of Africans to certain diseases.

The genetic ancestry has become of great interest for everyday citizens. Now there are available the ancestry tests, which will tell you how much of your genes come from Europe, Asia, Africa or America. The genetic differences are used during creating medicines, such as a heart-disease drug BiDil effective in Afro-Americans, and prenatal tests for Jewish for identification of prenatal genetic disorders which are rarely found in other ethnic and racial groups.

However on the other hand many fear those problems which will be created by manipulating the fact that race is more than just the color of your skin. This can once again undermine the basis of democracy- fundamental equality of all human.

The genetics assert that the tiny differences, which arose in the human genome, during the migration of our ancestors to the various parts of the world, are crucial for creation of the medicines, based on the genetic peculiarities of a given race. However the scientists fear to talk openly about the racial distinctions they observe, in order to avoid fuelling a new sort of racial segregation between people.

“There are clear differences between people of different continental ancestries,” said Marcus W. Feldman, a professor of biological sciences at Stanford University. “It’s not there yet for things like I.Q., but I can see it coming. And it has the potential to spark a new era of racism if we do not start explaining it better.”

Although according to the experts, the real distinction between people is created rather by their environment than their genes, the genetics are still viewed as more authoritative evidence.
“I’ve spent the last 10 years of my life researching how much genetic variability there is between populations,” said Dr. David Altshuler, director of the Program in Medical and Population Genetics at the Broad Institute in Cambridge, Mass. “But living in America, it is so clear that the economic and social and educational differences have so much more influence than genes. People just somehow fixate on genetics, even if the influence is very small.”

Although the scientists think time is not yet ripe to speak about the social implications of their researches, they still do not recommend to neglect the genetic evidence. Acccording to Dr Perry Clark, writing in the New York Times Blog: “To say that such differences aren’t real,” Dr. Clark later said in an interview, “is to stick your head in the sand and go blah blah blah blah blah until the band marches by... When was the last time a nonblack sprinter won the Olympic 100 meters?”- He asked.
Well, answer is too short “A lot.”
As for me, I sit at the computer 24 hours -9 hours=15 hours. Probably there are people who do more and for those who do and probably for me too, I will review several situations when one should turn the computer off, according to the Jokes provided by the “Welcome to Computer Jokes

Not fame makes us happy, but love. Love from first, second, third... sights.

But what happens while sitting in the subway train, watching at a woman of your life whom you have seen for the first time, disappears in the crowd?

That was love at first sight that experienced Patrick Moberg, a Brooklyn-based Web designer. What could one Web designer do for one woman? Set-up one Web site dedicated to finding his mystery woman, "www.nygirlofmydreams.com". He drew the picture of the girl and placed his contact information on it. The most interesting is that it worked. The inbox was flooded by emails. Moberg was contacted by one of the friends of the girl.

As a result, people interested in giving a helping hand to the web designer, got an answer: "Found her, seriously!."

Seems technology does not represent only technical comfort and support in lives of people.

Nowadays thousands of web sites cover love stories. Myth seems realistic for ones and contrary for the others. People like reading such stories. Lots of users are happy to hear unusual love stories. That is already the target segment web sites are ready to “catch.” As it is admitted in the article Love at First Sight … is it really?:

“The media in all forms likes to convey this myth to the popular culture. Why? Sex sells. Emotion sells. Excitement sells. Plus they’re far easier to portray and for the audience to follow then the slow progression of love.

A university survey towards men and women asked if there is such a thing as “love at first sight.” Half agreed and the other didn’t. The point is HALF did believe in the myth. On Bizjournal.com, they took an excerpt from the book “100% AMERICAN” by Daniel Evan Weiss and published by Poseidon Press. From that book there was a question of “love at first sight” and the statistic showed 57% women believed in the love myth.”

Thousands of researches give different opinions why it happens, how it happens when it happens. There are links where you can review interesting observations on women and men behavior in this direction:

LDA (London Development Agency) that has awarded 28 grants over the past 12 months under the Grant for Research and development scheme, awards Mediacells, a leading supplier of fact-based market insight for mobile and media industry.

The Mediacells is awarded for its innovative use of an exclusive annual research and development grant. The main reason for that was the use of the grant to create a practical methodology for pairing mobile devices with consumer information. The main idea of the research was directed to advertising and commercial purposes.

The research results cover European and US markets. As Managing Director of Mediacells announces: ”When mobile phones arrive on the market they are usually available on contract only or for a high price on prepay. As the device gets older, the phones drop in price and become more mass market. This Mediacells product is now ready to pilot with brands and advertising agencies who want a fast and effective behavioral capability to target specific consumer segments that are accessing mobile websites at certain times of day.”

The key in making successful advertising would it be TV, Internet, Radio, newspaper, or magazine is strongly and precisely determined media audience. With the information provided by Mediacells the work is done easier, and covers desired target audience more productively than other methods could do ever.

Brad Rees adds: “We are delighted to have been recognized in this way by the LDA. There are more than 65,000 small businesses in the London area, and to be one of only 28 London businesses to receive this accolade is truly special.”

To be among 28 businesses in the highly competitive London area means that the project is successful enough the London Development Agency Director of Delivery, Rebecca Shepheard to say: “I would like to congratulate Mediacells for their innovative concept to develop advertising software. This, and the other businesses awarded grants will now have the opportunity to transform their ideas into a business reality.”

This is mutually beneficial process when target audience receives the ads interesting for him/her and businesses which inform the target audience saving money and time accordingly.

Do you love ideas? Do you like expressing them, sharing and making your ideas more real than just watching them laying in the mind?

The way out from this dilemma was found by Enterprise Week. It is an annual UK-wide week of activities aimed at inspiring young people (14- 30) to have ideas and make them happen.

A new website LoveMyIdea is launched at Enterprise Week 2007. It provides opportunities to share, grow, get, pitch, and sell ideas.

The portal is created by young entrepreneurs headed up by Derry-based businessman Joe McGinnis. Who admits that “Everyone from children to old age pensioners can use the site and we want to be able to help people move forward with their ideas – whether they are for business or social reasons, we welcome them all.”“The website simply gives people the tools to potentially make their ideas a reality. Anyone can invest on the website financially - or mentally, by becoming a mentor, this is what makes us different from a typical “Dragon’s Den” style investor/ inventor format.”“The term investor for lovemyidea.com is a wider concept – you can invest in the community, a charity, or a family business, and we are hoping it will attract equal numbers of ideas, investors, and mentors alike.”

The ideas are as confidential as one wants them to be. It is possible to control who can see your ideas. This tool is especially useful for the colleagues who can share innovations with other colleagues.

Ideas Directory cover the following fields: Agriculture, Automotive, Building & Construction, Business, Charity & Not for Profit, Community, Competitions, Computers & the Internet, Culture & Arts, Current Affairs, Education & Employment, Entertainment, Environment, Financial & Legal, Food & Drink, Health & Beauty, Home & Garden, Lifestyle, Manufacturers & Engineers, Media & Communication, Medical, Retail, Sports & Leisure, Topical, Youth.

As Mr. McGinnis announces: “It is simply a portal where ideas can be heard, loved, nourished and encouraged by the community of members committed to changing the way we think about our street, our community and our world,”.

The 2008 Olympics which are to be held in China, have become more than just a point for pride for the Chinese. It has become a part of their national consciousness. The fact that about 3500 children have been named in the honor of this outstanding event makes clear the importance of Olympics to Chinese nation.

Most of these 3500 children with the name “Aoyun” (Chinese name for Olympics), were born in 2000, when Beijing was one of the competitors for the honor of hosting 2008 summer games. These amazing data was published by Beijing Daily, resting upon the information provided by China’s national identity card database.

Almost all children named “Olympics” are male, and only six of them reside in Beijing, while others are most probably from the rural areas.

The creative Chinese parents went even further with giving their children names related to Olympics: more then 4000 children bare names of main Beijing Games mascots. These names are Bei Bei, Jing Jing, Huan Huan, Ying Ying, and Ni Ni. If put together these names, the received phrase will be translated as “Beijing Welcomes You!”

Chinese parents increasingly use unique names to express individuality of their offspring. This can be explained by the fact that the Chinese population of 1,3 billion has just 129 family names, which creates ambiguity, as a lot of people can have same names and surnames.

To solve the problem, parents turned to creating new, unique names by putting together unusual combination of letters, numbers and symbols. According to deputy director of the National Language Commission, Li Yuming, at least one couple has recently called their child “1A”, while others use the e-mail address symbol (@). This symbol is pronounced “Aita” in Chinese meaning “I love him”.
