Some 4-5 months ago I was strongly recommended by my friend to watch the film Secret that reveals the most powerful law in the universe – The Law of Attraction, and the great part of that is Visualization. As it is mentioned on the official site of The Secret without exception, every human being has the ability to transform any weakness or suffering into strength, power, perfect peace, health, and abundance. Google already shows 16,600,000 results for the word visualization and 11,100,000 for Virtualization, and the combination of these two is about 8,320,000 results.
The reason I combined these two terms is that I visualize through virtualization. And if a painter visualizes through painting, musician by creating music, I just created the virtual visualization Folder :-)
So it helps… But now it is possible not only to make savings by virtual visualization but by Virtualization itself. According to the Citrix.com, Citrix Virtualization Index reveals 27 per cent of IT budget to be saved through virtualization by 2014. Server and desktop virtualization rollouts dominate CIO plans.
The rise of Virtualization investment plans and resulting savings is expected between 2010 and 2014. The study is based on the results of more than 700 CIOs worldwide.
Seems CIOs estimate virtualization is helping to achieve cost-savings of 16 per cent for the organization. The 16 per cent is going to reach 27 per cent in 2014.
As a result of the study, it is vivid that CIO focus on creating and delivering an efficient and flexible IT infrastructure over the next four years.
The majority comes on server virtualization, as over the next twelve months 41 per cent of UK companies intend to extend their current use of server virtualization and almost a third of UK CIOs (27 per cent) - desktop virtualization.
According to the Citrix.com 36 per cent of organizations are “evaluating” or “trialling” desktop virtualization. For server virtualization this figure sits at 28 per cent. Only 12 per cent of companies do not yet have some level of virtualization deployment underway. 62.5 per cent of these companies intend to begin server virtualization projects in the next 18 months, 33.4 per cent intend to explore desktop virtualization in the same time scale.
In order to identify real value of the most important benefits of desktop virtualization we should differentiate these two:
Server virtualization: Partitioning a physical server computer into multiple servers such that each has the appearance and capabilities of running on its own ‘virtual’ dedicated machine.
Desktop virtualization: Virtualization technologies that affect the end-user computing environment, across any device, including VDI, streaming desktop, application virtualization (through hosting or streaming), local virtualisation of desktops and user-profile management.
And finally, the six most important benefits of desktop virtualization are:
• Fast desktop deployment (65 per cent)
• Use in any location on any device (64 per cent)
• Data security and access control (62 per cent)
• Reduced total cost of ownership (55 per cent)
• Ease of migration (48 per cent)
• Power savings and/or green computing (35 per cent)
Different responsible people in this direction evaluate issue of Virtualization differently but the most important is that by all means is considered to be the major force for change, and is estimated as cost effective and efficient.
