
The increased interest in the program success is resulted by extension of the program beyond the initial 2 week period to the end of December, 2007.

MIT Professor Nicholas Negroponte shares his experience about realization of the importance of laptops in a child’s life and about the results of the transformation that led him to the foundation of One Laptop per Child, and creation of the XO laptop.
The mission of OLPC is “to provide a means for learning, self-expression, and exploration to the nearly two billion children of the developing world with little or no access to education.”

OLPC hopes to participate with the governments and organizations to distribute large numbers of laptops at a time. The countries which are expected to be supported by the program are:

OLPC keeps discussions about adding more countries into the program. Out of every $399 contribution, $200 is tax deductible as a charitable donation.
Donors who are taking part in “Give One. Get One” in the boards of are offered one year complementary HotSpot access by T-Mobile.
