For those who are not aware - CES is an international consumer electronics show – one of the major technology-related trade shows held each January in the Las Vegas Convention Center, Nevada, United States. Every year, CES typically hosts previews of leading tech products and is the host of new product announcements by the leading electronic companies, and awards the best devices according to 10 major and 2 special categories.
Held from January 10th to January 13th this year, CES 2012 awards were allocated as follows:
CATEGORY 1 - The Best of CES: Car Tech
The nominees included:
QNX Car 2 Mobile – promising to transform the Automotive Experience with the Power of HTML5
TeleNAv Scaut – a daily personal navigator designed for people on the go
Pioneer App Radio 2 – smartphone-powered in-vehicle audio system powered by Android OS
QNX Car 2 Mobile to be the winner, proudly grabbing the Best of CES Car Tech 2012 award!
CATEGORY 2 - The Best of CES: Cell Phones
The nominees included:
Sony Xperia S – announced in August 2011, with 4.3” screen, 720p HD resolution, 12MP camera, 1.5GHz processor, 32GB of storage. Based on Android 2.3, but Ice Cream Sandwich update to follow shortly.
Motorola Droid 4 – a dual-core processor, qHD 4-inch display and 4G LTE, QWERTY keyboard, 1080p, HD video. Runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
HTC Titan II – latest Windows Phone from HTC with 16MP camera, 4.7-inch LCD touchscreen display, 720p HD video recording, 1.5 GHz Snapdragon™ S2 processor, fast 4G LTE network.
and Nokia Lumia 900 of course – intensively rumored and recently announced latest Nokia Windows phone, 1.4GHz processor, a 4.3-inch ClearBlack AMOLED display, and LTE – as promised.
And the award of The Best of CES Cell Phones was given to Nokia Lumia 900!
CATEGORY 3 - The Best of CES: Digital Imaging
The nominees included:
Nikon D4 – FX-format CMOS sensor with 16.2 effective megapixels
Fujifilm X-Pro 1 – dubbed as wedding photographers new lover, with irror-less interchangeable lens camera (ILC)
Canon G1 X – 14MP 1.5" CMOS sensor (18.7 x 14mm) and 28-112mm F2.8-5.8 lens
Fujifilm X-Pro 1 to be the winner, humbly taking the Best of CES Car Tech 2012 Digital Imaging award!
CATEGORY 4 - The Best of CES: Emerging Tech
The nominees included:
MakerBot Replicator – the ultimate personal 3D printer, with Dualstrusion 2-color printing and a bigger printing footprint
3D Systems Cube – consumer 3D Printer, bringing 3D printing to our homes with relatively affordable price
I’m Watch – an Android smart wristwatch, featuring inbound calls, text messages, Facebook, Twitter, weather forecast and many more.
And the award of The Best of CES Emerging Tech was fairly given to MakerBot Replicator!
CATEGORY 5 - The Best of CES: Home Theater and Audio
The nominees included:
Dish Hopper DVR – bringing out a new DVR that automatically records prime-time programs.
Simple. TV – includes a single HDTV tuner that records to a hard drive that you provide. Capture and stream broadcast TV shows to your mobile phone, tablet or connected TV in HD. No cable subsciption required.

Roku Streaming Stick – a new dongle that will add Roku's services to your TV without need for a separate box.
Simple. TV to be the winner, proudly grabbing the Best of CES Car Tech 2012 award!
CATEGORY 6 - The Best of CES: PCs
The nominees included:
HP Envy Spectre – lightweight 13.3 Ultrabook of 20cm thin, scratch resistant & providingrich media & HD
Acesr Aspire S5 – is living up to the "ultra" in its name: it's the thinnest ultrabook yet
Dell XPS13 – a harmonious combination of high performance features and impressive style in an extremely mobile 13-inch laptop
Samsung Series 9 – withbacklit keyboard, brilliant LCD display screen and a large multi-touch clickpad.
And the Award of The Best of CES 2012 PC goes to HP Envy Spectre!
CATEGORY 7 - The Best of CES: Software Services and Apps
The nominees included:
Vingo Virtual Assistant for TV - turning your words into action
BlueStacks App Player – making android apps compatible with your PC
Aurasma – augmented reality app for Android and iOS
BitTorrent for TV – lets you watch your downloaded TV shows on your TV instead of your PC
BlueStacks App Player appeared to be CES favorite, awarded for the best Software Services and Apps category
CATEGORY 8 - The Best of CES: Networking and Storage
The nominees included:
D-link HD Media Router DIR- 917– marketed as a router built for multimedia streaming, but lower-than-average throughput will disqualify it for high-definition streaming for the users.
Netgear Media Storage WNDR4700 – a premium router with an integrated NAS device, delivering 450 + 450 WiFi speed and ultimate range
Seagate Personal Server 4G LTE Wi-Fi – a combination of what the company's GoFlex Satellite has to offer and a 4G LTE mobile hot spot in one compact box.
And the award for the The Best of CES 2012 Networking and Storage goes to D-link HD Media Router DIR- 917!
CATEGORY 9 - The Best of CES: Tablets
The nominees included:
Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga – Incredibly thin convertible Windows 8 Ultrabook-tablet hybrid
Asus Memo 37OT – running on Android Ice Cream Sandwich, with dual-core processor.
Toshiba Excite X10 – an Android™ powered tablet featuring a high-resolution 10.1inch display
Razor Project Fiona – a concept PC Gaming Tablet by Razer, running on windows 8
And the winner was Asus Memo 37OT!
CATEGORY 10 -The Best of CES: TVs
The nominees included:
Panasonic TC-50 Series PVT
Superoled Samsung TV – 50-Inch 720p Plasma HDTV, Remote control, Remote batteries, AC cord,
LG OLED 55 EM 9600 – huge 55-inch EM9600 OLED TV
Samsung Plasma PNE8000 – described to boast with “world-beating features and image quality”
The winner was 55 EM 9600 LG OLED!
And now, the two special awards! The categories were People’s Voice award and The Best Of The Show!
Fairly the most important award, the People’s Voice voted by the CNET audience was given to Razer Project Fiona - a concept PC Gaming Tablet by Razer, running on windows 8, promising the unbelievable gaming experience! While the winner in Best Of Show category was announced to be LG OLED 55 EM 9600!
